Michael Towler claimed his third Boxing Day victory winning the Stan Farr 5K at Hilperton recording 17:15 ahead of Ceri Whitmore and Warren Wade. Lianne Tilley won the ladies race ahead of Jo Mumford and Melanie Nichols.

Jo Mumford finished third in the Wiltshire XC Championships and led Avon Valley Runners ladies team to their third consecutive county XC title.

Mike Towler finished second behind Dan Woolford of Bristol & West (second claim AVR) in the mens race, but lost out on a second team title to Swindon Harriers.

Tom Fisher recorded a new PB time of 33:01 to win the Bromham Pudding Run 10K and lower the club record, in second place Michael Towler also achieved a PB of 33:42 and with 7th placed Warren Wade also gaining a new PB of 36:19 as well as finishing as 1st MV40, secured the Men's team title for Avon Valley Runners.

Alistair Bartlett was first to cross the finish line at the Brokerswood Santa Dash recording a time of 18:55 nearly two minutes ahead of 7th placed Darren Wrintmore. Rosemary Barber was the second Mrs Claus to complete the 5K XC course.

Warren Wade finished as runner up in the White Horse Gallop 5-mile Trail Run at Westbury. Mel Nicholls finished as third lady overall and Frank Lamerton claimed the prize for 1st MV60.

Bradford-on-Avon was flooded - with sunshine for the "Over the Hills" 12K with over 300 competitors taking part. Tom Fisher of Avon Valley Runners and Lucy Aucket from Shaftesbury Barnet led home the field.

Avon Valley Runners had a fruitful day at the Wiltshire Road Relays capturing the FV40 team title, MV40 team title and FV50 team title, as well as recording some of the fastest leg times on the day.

Avon Valley Runners took a 1-2 in this challenging 10.1 miler at Shillingstone in Dorset, with Tom Fisher leading the 400+ field home, just ahead of club mate Michael Towler.

Steve Newcastle recorded a time of 34:26 over the undulating multi-terrain course to win the Westbury Lions 10K.

Tom Fisher was crowned the County Half Marathon champion after finishing third in the Swindon Half Marathon which was hosting the Wiltshire championships for the distance. Tom finished in a time of 1:13:59 and led home club mates Thomas Coney & Mark Harris to second place in the team race.

Congratulations to Dan Woolford who took overall victory in the Men's 5-mile People Chase event at Badminton. Also to Warren Wade who finished third in the 9-mile event and led the Men's team with Thomas Coney, James Brett, Bob Ellis & Alistair Bartlett to victory in the longer race.

Avon Valley Ladies retained their relay title though at the expense of a dead heat with Mendip Hills Hash House Harriers.

The Avon Valley Men's team had to once again settle for second place on the 29-mile Relay from Weston Super-Mare to Wells.

Warren Wade claimed a new Personal Best time as he finished third in the Melksham 10 and led home club mates, Richard Hudson, Ken Marshall & Frank Lamerton to the team title.

Fifteen runners turned up to pursue hares: Richard Morgetroyd, Darren Wrintmore & Vicky Thomas over a four mile Hash trail laid around Melksham. FRB Carl Davies caught the hares just as they were laying the final flour point outside of the West End Inn.

Congratulations to Michael Towler who set a new Personal Best of 1:14:35 at the Bristol Half Marathon where he finished in 39th place.

Avon Valley Runners fielded 37 runners into the Chippenham Half Marathon and were led home by 3rd placed Tom Fisher in a time of 1:13:38

Tom Fisher was the clear winner in the Malmesbury 10K, completing the hilly multi-terrain course in 33:08.

Avon Valley Runners were out in force for the inaugural Southwick Country Park Run in Trowbridge and managed a 1-2-3 with Warren Wade leading the way in 18:14 from Richard Morgetroyd & Richard Hudson.

New member Dan Woolford set a club record of 4:42 for the distance in his first run as an Avon Valley Runner. SuperVet Linda Ladner was the first Lady to cross the line at the event in Barton Farm Country Park and 13-year old Holly Newman the first "Senior" lady.

The Meksham Mash saw a tie for first place between Richard Morgetroyd and the Fun Girl 3 (Sarah Jewers, Rebecca Brown & Victoria Thomas).

Rachel Bown was crowned Wiltshire 10K champion after finishing fourth overall at the TBAS 10K at Castle Combe. Tony & Karel Royle claimed county titles in the V60 category. Avon Valley Runners also claimed the county team title.

Congratulations to the Tritons from DB Max Tri / Avon Valley Runners in winning the second Avon Valley Relay; congratulations also to the Mixed Up Tri team also from DB Max Tri / Avon Valley Runners in winning the Mixed team category and also to the Knackered by Trying team from Avon Valley Runners who won the Ladies team category.

Avon Valley Ladies achieved a 1-2-3 at the inaugural Great Chalfield 10K with Fiona Price leading home Claire Howard and Julia Green. Sarah Jewers achieved 1st FV40 in her first race as a veteran and Frank Lamerton finished as 1st MV60.

Alistair Bartlett & Rosemary Barber were named as the "Greatest ever Avon Valley Runners" at the Silver Jubilee Dinner and Disco held at Cumberwell Park.

The clubs founder members: Ted Rockliffe, Tim Northwood, Bob Washbourne, Bernie Hobbs, Mike Hehir, Ray Withey, Judy Farr, Bob Ellis, Ron Whittle and Dave Gosling were also honoured.

Stuart MacGregor was the first Avon Valley Runner to finish the 12K Bluebell Race at Collingbourne Ducis finishing in 9th place overall and 1st MV50. Mike Pace in 13th place and 34th placed Darren Wrintmore brought home the Men's team prize to Avon Valley Runners in a close fought contest with Wootton Bassett Hounds.

Fiona Price finished as first Lady at the Swindon Park Run 5K, recording a personal best time of 22:00 gaining 25th place overall. Finishing one place in front and seven seconds ahead was Cameron Price who finished as second Junior.

Tom Fisher led home the field at the Bratton Hilly 11K and with Sean Butler, Danny Gard and Mike Pace brought the Mens team prize home to Avon Valley.

Karen Butler finished second in the Ladies race and led the Avon Valley Runners team of Claire Howard, Carla Dudman & Melanie Nichols to another title.

Glorious sunshine for the 170 runners in the Trowbridge 10K.  Michael Towler and Ruth Barnes both of Avon Valley Runners take first man and lady with times of 34:58 and 39:04 respectively.

Tom Fisher has broken the long standing club Half Marathon record with a 1:12:53 clocking at the Bath Half Marathon, finishing in 39th place out of the 10,000 strong field.

Tom Fisher led Avon Valley Runners home at the Pewsey Terminator with a splendid 2nd place. Whilst the Ladies team of Liz Ringham, Claire Howard and Sue MacGregor secured the Ladies team prize.

Dave Spencer was the first Avon Valley Runner back at the Bramley 20, finishing in 27th place and recording 2:03:55 - the club's second fastest time over the distance.

Avon Valley Runners were crowned county road race champions at the Wiltshire 10 in Melksham. With second place Tom Fisher recording 55:16, third placed Dave Spencer recording 55:56, fifth placed Michael Towler recording 56:31 and 20th placed Carl Davies recording 62:53 bringing the team prize home to the valley.
