The icy conditions threatened the running of the Stan Farr 5K but with some last minute course changes the 51st Boxing Day run was able to go ahead in Hilperton as planned.

Tom Fisher has broken the long standing club record for 10K, winning the Bromham Pudding Run in 33:19 and along with second place Michael Towler (33:57) and fifth placed Carl Davies (35:56) led Avon Valley Runners to the Men's Team prize.

Well done to Tom Fisher of Avon Valley Runners and Holly Rush of Team Bath who ran out as the winners of this years "Over the Hills" 12K Multi-Terrain race.

Stuart MacGregor finished as 3rd MV55 at the Great South Run, clocking 1:05:15 for the 10-miler in Portsmouth.

This unique, measured 5 mile race was held on Sunday 24th October from Alderley Edge to mark the opening of a new by-pass.  Rosemary Barber was 1st women over 60 in a time of 38.44.  The race was started by 'Ken Barlow' of Coronation St. fame.  Over 1,000 runners took part.

After the race the Road was then open to those who wanted to walk the course before the traffic was officially allowed to use the by-pass.

The Avon Valley Runners Men's team took victory at the Badminton Horseless Team event over five miles of cross country with horse jumps thrown in for good measure. Michael Towler lead the way winning the race overall in twenty seven minutes forty four seconds with Carl Davies in third place and supported by Richard Morgetroyd, Chris Atkinson and Darren Wrintmore.

Avon Valley Runners provided the first two overall finishers at the Marshfield Mudlark. Coming home first over the seven mile course was Tom Fisher in a time of 44:59 with new member David Spencer second in 45:49.

Tom Fisher crossed the finishing line first in a time of 38:52 at the Mells Scenic 7 and led the Avon Valley Runners Men’s team of Brett Flook, Richard Hudson and Frank Lamerton to victory ahead of Yeovil Running Club.

Avon Valley Runners Ladies team successfully defended their title over the 29-miles of the Uphill to Wells Relay. Well done to Kathy Kinsey, Mel Nicholls, Claire Howard, Linda Ladner and Sue MacGregor.

The Mens team of Carl Davies, Darren Wrintmore, Doug Barber, Brett Flook, Mike Pace & Stuart MacGregor finished in third place overall.

Avon Valley Runners retained the Men's Team crown at Stourhead with second placed Michael Towler, 17th placed Stuart MacGregor, 18th placed Doug Barber and 22nd placed Mike Pace picking up the points.

Tom Fisher lead home the fifty Avon Valley Runners who lined up for the Chippenham Half Marathon in the clubs biggest turn-out for the year and missed out by less than ten seconds on setting a new club record for the distance.

Nine teams lined up outside of Christie Miller Sports Centre for the inaugural Avon Valley Relay, covering 18-miles from Melksham to Winsley.

Winners in a total time of one hour and fifty seven minutes were the Avon Valley Runners Men's team led by Captain Carl Davies.

Avon Valley Runners Tom Fisher and Michael Towler led home the fifty strong field at the Mob Match as we entertained our friends from Chippenham Harriers and Corsham Running Club.

In the Ladies race, Ruth Barnes and Mel Nicholls of Avon Valley Runners led the Ladies team to victory.

Michael Towler recorded the second fastest time in the clubs history to win the Melksham 5K. Michael led from the start to record a winning time of 16:25, just four seconds outside of the club record set at the Melksham 5K in 1989 by Gerry Fice.

Tom Fisher took victory for the second year at the Kennet Kanter 10-mile race in Devizes improving his winning time by over ten seconds to finish in 56:37.

Mike Towler came home in 37:57 to win the Roundway Chase on Tuesday night. Carl Davies came in 3rd with a time of 41:02 at his first race since London. In total 19 from Avon Valley took part in the race.

Running his debut race for Avon Valley Runners, Tom Fisher came out the clear winner of the Cowpat Canter at Midsomer Norton by over five minutes ahead of the second placed athlete, recording 48:11.

Nearly two hundred runners went the extra mile for Sport Relief at the Avon Valley Melksham Mile. Organised by Avon Valley Runners the runners had the choice of completing one, three or six miles on the course around Bowerhill Playing Fields.

Twenty two Avon Valley Runners were among the six hundred who lined up for the Terminator off-road race. The race which starts in Pewsey is widely regarded as the toughest event in Wiltshire and takes the competitors on eleven gruelling miles up and down the North Wessex Downs

The Highworth Team Half Marathon is a by invitation only team event that takes place in North Wiltshire largely along the quiet country lanes around the villages of Hannington, Kempsford and Castle Eaton, with the first 5 runners coming home from a club to score – one of who must a lady. This year Avon Valley Runners got the call and were hoping that despite the icy the conditions the 16th running of this event would still go ahead. A team of nine Avon Valley Runners made it onto the start line and competed in relatively good conditions.
