Report: Highworth Half Marathon
A team of nine Avon Valley Runners took on the best in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire at the invitational Highworth Half Marathon. Despite having to stop enroute Michael Towler made a great start to the year as runner-up recording 73:18 on the hilly course behind David Bell of Cirencester AC.
In 18th place Warren Wade was next back recording 1:22:55 with 24th placed Carl Davis (1:24:17) just twenty seconds ahead of team captain Richard Morgetroyd in 25th place and 66th place Claire Howard in 1:36:22 the compulsory scoring lady saw AVR finish as fifth team overall behind winners Swindon Harriers.
