Report: Rough 'n' Tumble

Jan 12, 2009

This year's Rough and Tumble in Milton Lilbourne, Wiltshire, was rough and few did tumble, as the cold hard frosts from the previous week had thawed overnight leaving the terrain under foot a blend of ice and mud. Along with the gusting winds the conditions only helped to add to the overall experience of this challenging 10-mile cross-country race.

The race winner was Gareth Watkins from Army Athletics Association in 1:06:23 and the First Lady was 85th Placed Fiona Ross-Russell from City of Salisbury.

Avon Valley Runners turned out in number as 16 intrepid athletes braved the mud and wind to complete the course. First home for AVR was 56th placed Andrew Grist in a time of 1:21:32, and for the Ladies Mel Nicholls 234th recorded a time of 1:38:31
