Report: Forest 10
On Sunday 21st June, 14 runners from Avon Valley lined up among the 153 to complete the Warminster Forest 10. The course was slightly short this year due to the 20/20 taking place at the race venue of Warminster Cricket Club.
The course taking the runners up through Shearwater and Heavens Gate through trails and back down mostly on flat tarmac roads.
The race winner was Tom Fisher in a time of 57:20, closely followed by Avon Valleys Michael Towler in 57:29. Avon Valleys Men won the Team prize with Kevin Sparey 1:03:06, Carl Davies 1:03:32 and Alistair Bartlett 1:05:00 making up the 4. Kevin Sparey also won the MV50 Category
The first Lady was Jenny Moore from Wells City Harriers in 1:02:51.
Completing a clean sweep of the Team Prizes AVRs Ladies also came out on top, with Kay Middleton 1:14:46 first home, along with Tina Giles 1:20:34, Ali Atkinson 1:23:15 and Liz Clark 1:24:08.
This event was the 5th race in the Avon Valley Series, with Michael Towler and Kay Middleton earning the maximum 20 points each.
