Road and Off Road Running

Here is a list of recommended events for the next five weeks:

Don't forget many of these races are now filling up fast, so get your entry in early, so in some cases I have selected a choice of two events the same day.

Sunday, 22nd October
Avebury Trust FREE 10k race
Join us at Avebury for a free, 10k trail run. Enjoy a challenging run with stunning views across the wider Avebury landscape. Registration is from 8.30am in the Coach House courtyard, on the High Street at Avebury. The Trust10 run will begin at 9am.
Sunday, 29th October
Clock Change Challenge
This is a Road Championship event
This 10km event is suitable for runners aged 15 and over. The course is capable of producing your personal best, fast and flat. There will be a range of activities to keep the family here during the event too. Each runner will receive a special medal for the event and category winners will receive a special gift in a presentation.
Sunday, 5th November
Over the Hills
Our very own Off Road event
We need lots of marshals
Saturday, 11th November
Gwent League
Penlan Leisure Centre, Brecon.
The Gwent League is a completely off-road league, taking place on parkland courses, consisting of 5 fixtures catering for all age groups. Cost of entry is £1 for juniors and £4 for senior/vets per fixture (payable on the day to Steve). No matter what your ability, every runner counts towards an AVR team. The junior races vary from 1400m to 5000m depending upon the age group. The senior men - 9500m to 12000m. The senior women - 5800m to 7000m. Full details
If you wish to compete please can you let Steve know via email (not via text or facebook). He will need your full name and date of birth (for junior athletes) and age category e.g. FV35, FV40 or M40, M45 (for senior athletes). If you need a place on the minibus then include the request in the email. If the numbers wishing to attend exceed the capacity of the minibus then we will arrange alternative transport to ensure that everybody can get to the venue.
Sunday, 18th November
Roundway Revenge
Off Road Championship event
Setting out from Quakers Walk near the Kennet & Avon Canal, the route of approximately 7 miles is mostly off-road, a mix of undulating and hilly terrain with breathtaking views and dominated by the climb up Roundway Hill. From there the route winds itself around the top of the hill before dropping down a steep decline and then back up and around Oliver's Camp. A short, technical run through the nature trail will then see you down onto a small section of road before heading to the finish at the Sports Club.
Sunday, 26th November
AVR Wiltshire Half Marathon
Offer to help as a Marshal

Don't forget, there is always a club run from Pound Lane each Sunday starting at 09:30.
