Road and Off Road Running

Here is a list of recommended events for the next five weeks:

Don't forget many of these races are now filling up fast, so get your entry in early, so in some cases I have selected a choice of two events the same day.

Sunday, 23rd September
Mells Scenic 7
Sunday, 30th September
Brinkworth 10K Bash
This is a Club and County Off Road Championship event
It includes a variety of surfaces with quiet paths, tracks, byways and some minor lanes in rural North Wiltshire. The undulating and varied route is generally firm underfoot in September although a wet summer could make some sections interestingly muddy, as it did last year! But there are also some fast sections and in dry conditions we could easily see a new course record set.
The Start and Finish are in Brinkworth Recreation field, where free parking, a toilet block, a shelter/baggage tent, and cafe refreshments will be available. The field has a play area and there will also be a free bouncy castle.
Sunday, 7th October
Salisbury Half Marathon - (road)
This is a Club and County Road Championship event
From the Start line until you exit the City Centre on Churchfields Road, the roads will be closed.
Once on Churchfields Road, please where possible remain on the pavement on the left side. The race route will then be on open public highway which you will be sharing with all other road users.
Once you reach the A3094 Netherhampton Road, the running lane (nearside) will be closed to traffic for your benefit.
     or
Westbury Lions 10k - (off road)
The route is a fairly level one comprising mixed terrain, proceeding around the boundary of the Country Park before heading to Bratton and then back along Capps Lane to the Country Park. Marshals will be in attendance along the route to guide and assist you.
Sunday, 14th October
Grittleton 10K
Starting and finishing at Grittleton Village Hall, the Grittleton 10km is a fast, one lap, chip-timed road race set in a tranquil village location.
Sunday, 21st October
White Horse Gallop 8
This is a Club and County Off Road Championship event
A quad burning 8-mile trail run getting you up close and personal with Westbury White Horse.

Note:

Don't forget, there is always a club run from Pound Lane each Sunday starting at 09:30.
