The Charmouth Challenge is a multi-terrain 7 ish miles from Charmouth primary school to Golden Cap and back along much of the coastal path so the views are breathtaking. It is part of the school's summer fete so there are plenty of things going on for children while the race is in progress.
Avon Valley Runners will be setting up camp at Seatown about 10 minutes drive east of Charmouth, a beautiful spot surrounded by National Trust land and with a pebbly beach where fossils can be found. The Anchor pub 2 minutes from the campsite, has a childrens room, serves meals all day and will supply your rehydration needs!
There is a large street market in Bridport on Saturday morning and just along the coast is the famous Swannery at Abbotsbury.
The camp site gets booked up quite quickly. Chippenham Harriers and Swindon Harriers both have stayed there in the past, and there are limited pitches. All pitches have electrical hook up and will be £22 + £2.50 per child per night. The site has a laundrette for drying out wet children's clothes.
So don't delay. Book up by either phoning West Dorset Leisure Holidays
on 01308 422139,
or visit their website
and join in the fun.
Say you are from the running club and they waive the minimum three nights stay. It's a great weekend.
