Stage 5 - Broad Town to Broad Hinton

The Broad Town White Horse is: Ordnance Survey reference SU 098 783 (Snow Hill)

The route is mainly along farm tracks and through the village of Broad Hinton.

In order to avoid disturbing the cattle or the cattle disturbing the runners! this route does not follow the White Horse Trail, unlike the walkers who might be coming in the opposite direction during this stage.

Start at Cockroost Farm - SU 100 781

Car Parking is at Cockroost Farm at the first corner before reaching the house.

To get to the start of this leg, walk along the track behind the house, follow the track round and turn left through a gate. Jog down to the track at the end of the two fields.

The race starts in this track on the right. The runners from the previous leg will be turning left.

Run down the track until you reach a wood. Keep this wood on your right and follow the track round to the right. Continue straight down until it bears right with more trees on your right. Keep following this hardcore track (it bears left again) until you arrive at a junction. Turn right. Follow this track until you reach some farm buildings. This is Manor Farm. Half way between these buildings take the turning to the left (this is Manor Lane) and continue until you reach a road (Yew Tree Lane). Turn left and run down Yew Tree Lane until just before the junction with the A4361, when you should see Weir Farm on the left and a stile on the right leading into a field. Climb over this stile and run diagonally across the field (you are once again on the White Horse Trail) to the opposite corner where you will meet another track. Turn left and follow the track between the farm buildings and, at the field, bear right. Run diagonally across this field when you will see a stile in the trees opposite. Across this stile there is a pathway. Keep left and follow this path between the houses until you reach the road (Post Office Lane). Turn left and, keeping on the left hand side of the road, continue to the finish at the end of this lane.

The finish of this stage is opposite The Bell Inn.

Please do not park in The Bell Inn car park unless you are a customer - it their busy time of day.
